Archbishop Mark, the Bishop of Philadelphia and Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania, served Divine Liturgy at the Parish of Saint John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 93 Zerby Ave., Edwardsville, as a special guest on Sept. 24. Following Divine Liturgy, Archbishop Mark honored and presented the annual Archimandrite Anthony Repella Service Recognition Award to chosen parishioners who have given their time and talents for the furtherance of St. John's.

Courtdale Woman Sentenced for Deadly DUI Crash

Police: Wilkes-Barre woman in custody for endangering children in car chase

A woman was charged with endangering the welfare of her children after police say she chased an ex-boyfriend through Wilkes-Barre Saturday. Police say the ex-boyfriend, who made the call to police, said Regina Lawton, 30, of Edwardsville, was chasing him in a vehicle around 6:14 p.m. Saturday throughout the city.

Safety a key concern for judge candidates

Both candidates vying to sit as the district judge for Kingston and Edwardsville cite the safety of the community as a reason they want to serve in the position. Jim Haggerty, current mayor of Kingston, and Mamie Phillips, an assistant district attorney with the Luzerne County District Attorney's Office, will both appear on both the Democratic and Republican ballots for the magisterial district judge seat in District 11-1-05, which covers Kingston and Edwardsville.
